women's dress code--River cafe

Hi!

I am planning my third trip to NYC(this time with my best friend) and we have booked dinner at 7 pm on a Sunday at River Cafe. I have searched through many of the posts about attire and most of it is about whether men need jacket and tie too. My question is just how dressy are most women there? Do we need dresses, hosiery, heels? Would nice slacks and blouses/dressy sweaters be out of line? We have a very very busy day planned that day and are trying to decide if our normal dress clothes that we%26#39;ll wear to mass at St.Patrick%26#39;s and Billy Elliot will suffice or if we need to try to get back to the hotel and really dress up.

I wouldn%26#39;t wear jeans, but you can leave the ball gown behind. Business casual should be right OK. Nice slacks, blouses and dressy sweaters would be just fine.

Of course, Fred Astaire wouldn%26#39;t be caught dead without his tux at all occasions.

BTW, the best way to get to the River Cafe is to take the subway to downtown Manhattan [R to City Hall] and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Take the stairs down into DUMBO and walk down Washington Street to the water. Then make a left along the river. It%26#39;s about a five minute walk.

there is a stop right at the River Cafe and save

room for ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream factory

in the white building next door.

Nice slacks and sweaters or blouses with something other than sport shoes should do the trick, for every place you are visiting. Have a wonderful time!
