Where to stay in Greenwich Village with young children

We will be in NYC in May for 5 nights and would like to stay in Greenwich Village. Does anyone know a good hotel/appartment for us to stay in which is also comfortable for the kids (age 6 and 4) ?

There are very very few hotels in Greenwich Village. There are some b %26amp; b%26#39;s, but most don%26#39;t accept small children. What is your budget per night and why do you ask for Greenwich Village? Is it just that it sounds nice or do you have a reason you need to be there (ie near NYU)?

wshotel.com

is the only affordable hotel there with private bathrooms. Apartment rentals are not advised in NYC.

Embassy Suites is one very good family hotel further south in the financial district. In midtown, there are many more options.

What is your budget?

Our budget is flexible. For us the Village means New York, it also means we can take the kids out easily (early dinner etc) and do not have to walk around for restaurants etc. We%26#39;ve been to NYC several times and always in hotels near central park, we thought it might be nice to change that. But I guess it is just not an option.

I%26#39;ve read some of the negative posts on renting an apartment but I also noticed that even tripadvisor is now advertising for apartments (link: vacation rentals).

Just because TripAdvisor is advertising them doesn%26#39;t make them legal, and it certainly does not mean you should plan to stay in one.

Just checked the apts rental section, some rents seem really strange, like $300 to $500/month. Not in any way realistic for NYC or the locations mentioned (ie tudor city)

Suite hotels like the Embassy Suites are ideal with kids since you get 2 rooms (separate bedroom and sitting room) so kids can nap or go to bed early. YOu also get a small kitchen. There%26#39;s a great park for small kids right near the Embassy Suites so that%26#39;s a good option imo.

is a group of 7 or so suite hotels mostly in midtown.

is on the upper west side, a GREAT area for kids near the park and the Children%26#39;s Museum and the Museum of Natural History.

Hi,

I think you should look into the Washington Square Hotel. Rooms can be a little small, but they may have a suite. They are right in the heart of Greenwich Village. Also, for a much more quirky place to stay there is the Chelsea hotel. Last time I checked they had 1 bedroom apartments for $350 per night. The rooms are large. It is very unconventional, with bizarre artwork all over the place... but it is roomy for the price. Obviously that is in Chelsea.
