Carmel Limo Service

Two questions...

#1 Will a minivan be large enough for 5 people (3 adults %26amp; 2-12 under children) with one piece of luggage each??

#2 Rate quoted from Newark Airport to Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea 121 W. 28th St. for minivan was $63 one way plus tolls/tip. Is this about the going rate?? Thanks for your info/imput!

Carmel Limo Service

Yes to both.

You can check with the other lower priced services like dial7 (212.777.7777) and allstate (212.333.3333) to see if they have a better price, but it seems about the right price to me.

Left Bank dress code?

Is there a dress code at Left Bank? If not a real ';dress code';, would we feel underdressed in blue jeans and a nice sweater?

Left Bank dress code?

I%26#39;ve been there only once, but I think nice jeans and a nice sweater would be appropriate. Great food! Enjoy...

Left Bank dress code?

Jeans and sweater are perfect. Try the fried oysyters. Have fun.

Suzanne, may I suggest that you take a look at the extensive forum FAQ ';sticky'; posted at the top of the Forum index page; your questions -- and more -- are addressed there :-)

You can also look on menupages.com

    Right across the street

Here%26#39;s one list that includes a heap of veggie restaurants - scroll down a little:

    www.vegetarianusa.com/city/NewYorkCity.html

Here%26#39;s another site with veggie options:

    www.happycow.net/north_america/usa/new_york/

    And yet another site:

    vegetarian-restaurants.net/Newsletter/NewYor鈥?/a>

My daughter has been a vegetarian for years, and is always able to find good veggie food at a restaurant. In addition, many ethnic cuisines, especially Indian and Chinese do veggie really well here.

Eat nothing with eyes, except a potato.

Yours is a popular question. Have you tried typing ';vegetarian'; in the forum search box?

FWIW, I love using the ';search nearby'; feature on Google Maps to find stuff - restaurants, attractions - around a specific location.

    http://maps.google.com/

Enter your location (use a famous name or enter the cross-streets), click on it and then select ';search nearby.'; You can enter anything like ';vegetarian'; or ';organic';, etc. Works like a charm.

    thank youn all for help

    Brooklyn Bridge this weekend

My daughter wants to walk the Brooklyn Bridge this weekend to celebrate her birthday, does anyone know if you can park your car near it as we will be coming in from the island. any help would be greatly appreciated

    Brooklyn Bridge this weekend

If I remember correctly, there are parking garages on both sides of the bridge. But they%26#39;re still a good 10-15 minute walk from the bridge. Just a warning, parking rates will probably be really expensive. You might want to think about taking the LIRR into the city. But if you have to drive, park on the Brooklyn side as it%26#39;ll be cheaper.

    Brooklyn Bridge this weekend

Parking of course means that you are now on the other

side of the bridge from where you want to be and you

have to either walk back or take a subway.

Solution find a parking spot on street in Brooklyn

heights. Hop the A train at High Street. Take one

stop to Manhattan and then find Entrance to bridge to

walk back to Brooklyn to retrieve you car. Or reverse

    and park in Manhattan.

Pls help me remember name of restaurant

There was a restaurant on the 2,3 or 4 floor of a hotel in Times Square that overlooked all the lights of Times Square. It used to be a fish restaurant. Can anyone help me and tell me if it is still there - and if so, what the name is????

    Thanks so much

I bet you%26#39;re thinking of Foley%26#39;s in the Renaissance Hotel. Unfortunately, it%26#39;s closed.

Outoftheinkwell hit it. It was in the Renaissance hotel. Foley%26#39;s closed and was briefly reincarnated as a Chinese place that was dreadful. They now have a place called 2 Times Square in the space.

Brilliant!!! Thank you....Unfortunately, I checked and they are not open for lunch on Saturday. Was hoping for something with an elevated view for Saturday lunch - not brunch.

The Broadway Lounge on the 8th floor of the Marriott Marquis overlooks Times Square and serves burgers, sandwiches, indiv. pizzas, etc.

    Meatball Parm

Where is the best, both size and quality Meatball parm in either Midtown West or Midtwon East?

    Meatball Parm

I don%26#39;t have any idea myself, but I see that some people online recommend Lazzara%26#39;s:

    http://www.lazzaraspizza.com/

But it looks like you%26#39;re much better off elsewhere:

    鈥eriouseats.com/2006/10/top-5-meatball-hero鈥?/a>

By the way, do you know about the Defonte%26#39;s that just opened not too far north of the EVill?

    http://defontesofbrooklyn.com/

    Meatball Parm

looks like Lazzara%26#39;s is it. I%26#39;ll have to check out the other one someday too.

I don%26#39;t eat those either, but I searched on some websites, such as www.google.com , www.eater.com , http://nymag.com/daily/food/ (Grub Street) to find this place:

    http://chefjoedoe.com/menu_brunch.html

    (See ';The Little Benny';)

Are you a 30 Rock watcher? If so, do you remember the episode about how once a year the Teamsters bring in sandwiches from some secret location in Brooklyn and all work stops b/c they%26#39;re so good? The sandwich place in question is supposedly Defonte%26#39;s (the original is in Red Hook). I haven%26#39;t been, but if it%26#39;s good enough for Tina Fey . . .

I have been to Joe Doe, which QB just referenced, and while I haven%26#39;t had the Little Benny, when I went they were serving these little sandwiches are barbecued buffalo that were terrific. You know, in case you need more cholesterol in your diet :)

    Crans - good to know!

PKSGX - have you tried searching on http://midtownlunch.com/

    Love this contest!

    midtownlunch.com/2009/鈥?/a>

Incidentally, the Times has an article today about the ';sandwich smackdown'; brewing between Defonte%26#39;s and nearby Lamazou:

    鈥ytimes.com/2009/鈥?/a>

I haven%26#39;t been to Defonte%26#39;s, but I%26#39;ve bought sandwiches and cheese from Lamazou numerous times, and am sort of rooting for them. (But really, there%26#39;s room enough for both, isn%26#39;t there?) Almost every time I go into Lamazou, my total comes to some odd amount like $7.13, and whenever I try to hand Aziz (the owner) $8, he%26#39;ll only take $7 and says, ';Pay me next time, ok?'; We must owe that guy $20 in rounded-off change.

OMG, duck and brie sandwiches around the corner and I didn%26#39;t know about them????

But I don%26#39;t know about it being a Murray Hill sandwich showdown, Crans. I would argue Dafonte%26#39;s is in Grammurray.

LOL! Also acceptable: North East Village (NoEvil) or Irving Place East (IrvPlease).

Lamazou%26#39;s sandwiches are terrific, Kate--get yourself there sometime. (But don%26#39;t tell anyone about it!)

    http://www.yelp.com/biz/lamazou-new-york

Perhaps slightly Northwest of the East Village - NoWeevil.

Spring Break Mid April with kids

Is this a good idea or should I look for another destination or a later trip?

Spring Break Mid April with kids

The falls are always beautiful, hotel rates are less expensive in April, and I hate to ever discourage anyone from visiting. But if you have the option of coming later in the season (May to October), please do. For kids, it%26#39;s all about getting wet and actually touching the falls. Come when they can do that via the Crow%26#39;s Nest, Cave of the Winds, and Maid of the Mist. (And Whirlpool JetBoats, if you can afford it. Expensive, but worth it.)

Spring Break Mid April with kids

The Canadian side is much nicer.
