Where to park for Central Park

I am wondering the best location for parking at Central Park? Obviously, it is enormous!! We are looking for the zoo and the John Lennon mosaic.

Thanks,

Jen

Where to park for Central Park

The best thing to do, of course, is not to drive. Where will you be coming from? Must you take a car?

Where to park for Central Park

The zoo is near Fifth ave. %26amp; 64th st. The Imagine mosaic is on the other side of the park (Central Park West) and 72 st.

bestparking.com

shows garages all over the city.

Coming from a ';car culture'; like LA, it is difficult to imagine that New Yorkers most often do not drive and park. Rather, we take the subway and don%26#39;t worry about it. The best advise is to take the subway. If you must park, good luck finding on street parking, but there are lots of expensive garages around that would love to assist you in parking.

My colleague who sits in the next %26#39;cube%26#39; to me was just showing me some photos of her nephews%26#39; new apartment in Chelsea. He came from Meriden, CT was a class mate of my daughter and has been living in the City for 16 years or so. When he moved in, he had a car, did the alternate side samba for 6 months and then got rid of the vehicle and has not owned one since. YOU DO NOT NEED A CAR IF YOU LIVE IN NYC.

That being said - are you driving in from LA?

If not do you plan to rent a car for your visit?

Are you just visiting NYC or will you travel to the %26#39;burbs?

For sightseeing in the City you need a MetroCard for subway and bus use; that%26#39;s it.

Any questions?

I would echo the NO CAR NEEDED cry and when you are

at the John Lennon mosaic, continue into the park

on the downhill path and it will lead you to the

Bethesda fountain which is my favorite part of the

park and then on past that up the path toward the

boathouse where if you so desire you can rent a

rowboat for the lake or have a cocktail at the

boathouse cafe (if you are here in the warm weather)

and then to the conservatory waters which brings you

to the west side near the zoo and at 72nd street

then just figure out which path goes downtown and

you will run into the zoo.
