My son has been accepted at the Milano School of Management and Urban Policy. The only address I have is 72 Fifth Avenue. My son says it%26#39;s located in Grenwich Village. I know nothing of NYC, but was wondering about reasonably priced hotels near the school. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hotel near son's school
I would call that Union Square rather than the Village, but that%26#39;s ok.
What are your dates and what is your nightly budget?
Hotel near son's school
Congratulations to your son! This is part of the new school and is indeed in the heart of Greenwich Village at 13th st. %26amp; Fifth ave. Not a lot of decent hotels nearby. The closest good one is
wshotel.com
It%26#39;s a very small European style hotel-nothing fancy but ok.
The brand new Cooper Square hotel is trendy and hip and sometimes available at a decent price on quikbook.com
Hotel 17 is a budget place that%26#39;s not too far and the Park South is also not too far and also well priced on quikbook usually.
There are also some b %26amp; b%26#39;s that rent something like an apartment but many have minimum stays and strict payment rules. For your info, they are
west-eleventh.com
abingdonguesthouse.com
gvhome.com
gvhabitue.com
Crans is correct. It%26#39;s not really the heart of the village which is a bit further south.
The New School is a two minute walk from the Union Square subways station, serving the #4, 5, 6 and N, R, W subways lines. It%26#39;s also one minute the other direction to the 14th Street/6th Ave. station on the F and V line, and another two or three minute walk to the 14th St./7th Avenue station on the #1 train and the 14th STreet/ 8th Ave station on the A, C, E lines. Not to mention the L line, which runs cross-town along the length of 14th Street.
Therefore, you%26#39;ll be able to get to the New School-Milano School in minutes from nearly anywhere in Manhattan. I%26#39;d pick a good hotel in your budget and not worry so much about being so close to the school.
What%26#39;s your hotel budget?
To be very honest, I%26#39;m not really sure about a hotel budget...this has all happened (his acceptance) within the last couple of weeks, and I am just now looking into where I will stay when we move him there. He%26#39;s moving in August..I know, HOT %26amp; HUMID...we are waiting to hear about housing options, and that will play a roll also. It is good to know about the subway stations and ease of access to the campus. Thanks so much for all the initial info. I%26#39;m sure I will be asking more questions as the time gets closer.
