Hello
Any recommendations where to go for dinner before ';Jersey Boys';...it%26#39;s also our anniversary, so i wanted something romantic as well.
Thank you

ViceVersa is a nice Italian that%26#39;s not far. The Modern Bar at MOMA and Maze, the more casual part of Gordon Ramsay in the London hotel are also options.

One more question...is Cafe des Artistes too fat away from the theater district?
Thank you
Cafe des Artistes is on W. 67th Street - check out your map and you%26#39;ll see the %26#39;Theater District%26#39; is not that close to this address......
Will you be here for more than just 1 night? If so, I%26#39;d split the 2 ';events'; and enjoy a relaxing anniversary dinner on a night when you need not be concerned about getting out the door for the 8 PM curtain time.
Yes, it is too far away...ideally you should be able to walk to the theatre after dinner which means three or four streets....Cafe des Artistes isthree quarters of a mile away and with the theatre crowds on Bway and 7th Avenue, it would take you about half an hour to walk it....do it another night.....If you want something quiet and ';grown up';, in addition to the Modern which has been mentioned and is wonderful, look at Le Bernadin for a spectactular French fish meal (the best of its kind in NY but pricey) and also consider the Plaza since you could walk to theatre in ten or fifteen minutes from there
I agree with CockleCove on this one - I/we never usually have dinner prior to a show - too rushed. Our usual MO is do whatever during the day, back to the hotel to freshen up; then head out for a cocktail at 6:30 or so and then on to our theater for an 8:00 PM curtain. n, normally at 8:00.
Too long to walk but a snap on the 1 subway line
66th and broadway-- 3 stops to 42nd st or 2 stops to
50th street... get a metro pass as soon as you get
here. There are also lots of good restaurants on
restaurant row which is near the theater district and
they are set up for pre theater.
If you%26#39;re here more than one night, I agree with CockleCove, Poppa, et al.
Pre-theater dining is not always the most leisurely. You want to make your curtain in time (and, don%26#39;t forget, have time to use the facilites!) so you might feel under a little pressure.
There%26#39;s a page in the FAQ ';sticky'; at the top of this forum called ';Pre Theater Dining.'; You can also find it by typing ';Pre Theater Dining'; in the search box.
Go to a romantic dinner when you don%26#39;t have a curtain time to catch. Cafe des Artistes is great, btw.
What%26#39;s your food and budget preferences?
Well thank you all for the info...I think we will just go to Broadway that night and have our Anniversary dinner on Saturday. We arrive on April 10th very early in the morning (';Jersey Boys'; that same night) and we%26#39;ll have 5 days to see New York. It%26#39;s our first visit as well. So Cafe des Artistes is a good option for a romantic anniversary dinner ?
Well, we thought it was lovely. It seems like an old world ';private club.'; You enter through an apartment building lobby. Take your time to look at the sketches on the walls.
I%26#39;ve never been to One if By Land, River Cafe, etc. so perhaps I%26#39;m not the one to compare.
