We would like to walk off lunch before the museum and would like to walk through the park. About how long a walk is it?
Thanks
walking from Columbus Circle to the Whitney
It%26#39;s a mile as the crow flies. Of course, since you are not a crow, I would say it%26#39;s about a mile an a half to walk it.

Going through the park, there will be no direct route - and given the park is not well signed, you may get lost (although that%26#39;s the fun part).
I think it%26#39;d take you around 40 minutes.
thanks. There is no doubt I will get lost so I will count on an hour walk!!
It won%26#39;t be easy to figure your way on this diagonal route. I strongly urge you to bring a map. ;)
Here%26#39;s a handy map that shows the main paths. The Guggenheim is marked but unlabeled -- it%26#39;s the black square on Madison, just across from the Conservatory Pond.

Sorry. I meant the Whiteney. (The Guggenheim is labeled.)
thanks for the great link to the maps. I will print off maps of all the neighbourhoods we plan to visit.
We are staying on Lexington at 37th. Do you think it is within walking distance of Union Square?
Yes, I think the walk from there to Union Square is a decent one. Wander down Park Ave to Madison Square Park (hook a right at 21st to detour to the park). Then walk down either Broadway or 5th, your choice as they are both interesting with many shops along the way.
Actually, I change my mind. Another great walk would be to continue down Lex to Gramercy Park, which is lovely and is surrounded by gorgeous homes and apartments. Then cut over to 5th or Broadway and continue down to Union Square.
