Hi, I%26#39;d love some suggestions for accomodation for myself, my husband together with our 23 and 25 yr old daughters for 4 nights in early September. We%26#39;d prefer to stay in 1 room to keep costs down as this visit is part of a month long trip across the states for us. If there are 2 beds (double or queen) + a rollout that is OK but the girls are not adverse to sharing a double or queen sized bed either. We plan only to sleep in the room, spending most of our time out and about. Thanks for any thoughts.
Accomodation for mum, dad and two daughtersThe Embassy Suites Hotel New York located in the Financial District (lower Manhattan) provides two room suites that have a separate bedroom and living room area. It%26#39;s fairly close to various subway lines, and it%26#39;s within distance to the Seaport, NYSE, and the Statue of Liberty. Complimentary breakfast is also included.
Accomodation for mum, dad and two daughterscorrection to my post...the hotel is within distance of the Statue of Liberty ferry.
Affinia Dumont.
Huge rooms, well located, lots of restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity of hotel.
Hi rob, if you don%26#39;t know about it already then make sure you get familiar with www.travelzoo.com - this website could save you buckets of money!
I found most of my accomm through travelzoo. The website lists discounted hotel rooms but you still book directly through the hotel(s). For a September stay you probably wont find something until 2-3 months out so it may pay to book something *now* but make sure it%26#39;s 100% refundable with no penalty in the event you find something better. Most reputable hotels will allow you to cancel up to 48 hours prior to date of arrival with no penalty. There was a time when I had 3 hotel bookings for NYC on the go at once! It doesn%26#39;t hurt to hedge your bets ;-)
Good luck!
Last year we (2 adults and 2 teens) stayed at the Marriott Midtown East, 866 Third Avenue and 53rd Street. Clean, quite, ten minutes to Bloomingdale and Central Park and about fifteen to Times Square, huge room with two queen beds and a pull out. Drug store underneath as well as subway station ten steps out of the front door.
Agree with all the info you%26#39;ve been given. Some of the other Affinia hotels besides the Dumont will also work for you. All are good but the Eastgate is very dated looking (but large rooms and clean).

If you%26#39;re here before Sept. 7, our Labor Day bank holiday marking the end of the summer, you%26#39;ll find better prices than after. I particularly agree with the concept of booking something cancelable now and waiting for sales b/c there are sure to be some before Sept. 7
Another really good option is the
beaconhotel.com
which has a summer sale ending on Sept. 7
If you want super, super cheap expedia.com is having a sale on Hotel Pennsylvania for $100 a night. The warning is that the hotel is old and shabby, but, located centrally opposite Madison Sq Garden and Penn Station. We booked it for May.
We have also stayed at the Big Apple Hostel near Times Square on 45th. Rooms there contain 4 bunks so your family will have their own room. Baths are shared, but, decently clean with 2 per suite shared between 4 rooms. Next door is a the cranberry deli with good, low cost food.
Thanks so much for all your replies- I%26#39;ll certainly check them all out!!
