half a day in brooklyn

hi. we%26#39;re going to nyc for a wedding and will have most of a monday free before taking a late afternoon train back to D.C. we%26#39;re staying at a hotel near union square. thought about going to brooklyn on that monday. maybe taking the subway to a stop where we can walk across the brooklyn bridge. about how long will it take to get there? recommended stop? suggestions on what to do and see in brooklyn. have heard the pizza%26#39;s good at grimaldi%26#39;s. what%26#39;s the address, or what%26#39;s it near? thanks!!

You should repost your question to the forum for New York City, which is much more widely read than the forum for any individual borough. The NYC forum is here:

From union square take either the 4 and get off at

Borough Hall or the R and get off at Court Street.

Both are actually the same stop. From there find the

Brooklyn Promenade for a great view of Manhattan. From

there find Tillary street and you will find an

entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge. Stopping midspan you

can walk it in about 20 minutes or so,

Regarding Grimaldi%26#39;s-- only tourists go there but

if you must it is on Old Fulton Street. You can either

walk or if you are tired you can take the B25 bus down

to the DUMBO area and just ask the driver. There is

a stop about 100 yards from there and just look for

the lines of tourists.

thanks, all, for the info. didn%26#39;t know grimaldi%26#39;s is ';for tourists.'; any other recommendations for a casual lunch?
