walking tour VS on board tour

Any opinion on the Real New York walking tour that is listed as #1 on trip advisor VS the On Board shuttle bus type tour that the guide stays with you and gets off at each site with you to give info then all back on the same shuttle.

The real NY tour that we would be able to afford is the one that they are just starting in April that is called Dozen Apple tour i believe...11 people and 1 guide and it is only on Saturdays. Anyone have any more insight to this?

Thanks again for suggestions!

The best way to see NYC is on foot. While I%26#39;ve not taken the Real NY tours of any kind, it does get good reviews here and I think the guy who runs it was one of the On Board tours guide. The idea of a small group and being taken around by subway sounds like a good idea as long as the places it stops are places that interest you.

What day of the week do you arrive? If Sat. is your last full day, I don%26#39;t think waiting til then for a tour is a great idea.

walking tour VS on board tour

We have Friday, Sat and Sun as our full days.

We Thursday afternoon 3:35 and leave Monday on 12:35 flight.

I was wondering myself if it would be best to do the tour guide thing on Friday so that would give us an idea of what areas we might want to concentrate on the following two days. The ';dozen apple';walking tour thru the Real NY tours is only on Sat. whereas we could do the On Board tour on that Friday.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

What time of year is this? If it%26#39;s a summer Fri. that%26#39;s not a bad time for a bus tour.

We are headed there in mid April.

I always recommend that first timers take the hop on

hop off tours that are offered. Take one loop staying

on (unless you have preplanned what you want to see)

Then do the hop on hop off thing the second time

around the loop.
