Which broadway show should I pick?

I am coming to New York July 24-28 and would like to go to a broadway show. I saw Lion King and Wicked in Los Angeles, Phantom in Las Vegas, and Mamma Mia in London . . . I loved all 4. I saw Movin%26#39; Out, Chicago, and Rent . . . didn%26#39;t like these 3. Any recommendations on which Broadway play you think that I would enjoy? I have not seen a broadway play as my theatre experience is in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Orange County, CA. Your recommendations are appreciated. Thank you.

Which broadway show should I pick?

A lot of shows are on discount now but you wouldn%26#39;t be able to buy discount tickets now for July. You%26#39;d have to wait probably til May or June. The only show that%26#39;s never discounted that you haven%26#39;t seen is ';Jersey Boys'; about the singing group, the Four Seasons.

For other shows you might like, I%26#39;d recommend Avenue Q (very funny and a bit naughty) and In the Heights.

Let me add ';South Pacific'; to the mix - a classic!

I rarely disagree with whiz but I don%26#39;t think the OP will like In The Heights if they didn%26#39;t like Rent and Chicago.

I think South Pacific or Mary Poppins would be great options for you.

Yeah, South Pacific or West Side Story, maybe. Or Guys and Dolls - it got lousy critical reviews, but it%26#39;s a classic, and that seems to be what you like. a lot of people I know who%26#39;ve been have liked it just fine.

Billy Elliot is a crowd pleaser.

I loved Jersey Boys plus all the ones you mentioned you liked above. I also hated Rent! So, maybe try Jersey Boys! :O)

I would recommend Jersey Boys or Billy Elliot - both fantastic

jersey boys has my vote!

While you have seen and been suggested %26#39;name%26#39; shows, we routinely attend the theater in NYC and go for limited runs, off-broadway or shows offered by the Manhattan Theater Club of which we are on their mailing list.

We also routinely peruse www.broadwaybox.com.

We last saw the Marvelous Wonderettes and The American Plan, both excellent productions also very enjoyable and entertaining.

IMO, one does not have to always see first run shows to experience the magic which is Broadway - expand your horizons check out broadwaybox.com for some interesting productions being staged as we speak and take it from there.

1. Most older theaters are small, intimate and cozy. This means you%26#39;re likely to get a good view, even from the balconies. Plus, they have gorgeous decor.

2. This also means that most older theaters have small seats. Really small, as in no leg room. Many are landmarked, so the interiors can%26#39;t be changed.

3. And, many theaters do not have elevators or escalators.

4. Spotlights are hot, so there%26#39;s usually plenty of a/c. During the summer, bring a sweater.

5. Please follow the ettiquette tips at the bottom of this page (from our FAQ ';sticky'; at the top of this forum. You can also find this page under ';Things to Do'; in the left margin.)
