Best view in town? Empire State or The Rock??

OK... I would like to check out the sights from one of these platforms... but which one would people recommend and why? Cheers

Hi I think the Top of the rock is better. Ive done both the ESB has the fence around the top as the Top of the rock is all glass and on 3 levels for taking better pics. Go up day and night you will find this 1 of the best things you will do in the city.

I recommend both.

From TOTR, you have a great view of the ESB and Central Park.

From the ESB, you get a great view of the Chrysler Building (it%26#39;s partially obscured by the Met Life Building when at TOTR). Plus it%26#39;s the Empire State Building! You just have to go up the ESB. It%26#39;s iconic. You get that iconic feeling that TOTR just can%26#39;t give you.

Do TOTR during the day and ESB at night.

I think TOTR is better! At night, you can get a beautiful picture of ESB. I%26#39;ve done both, and it%26#39;s just my opinion. I wouldn%26#39;t do ESB again. :O)

I would do both however i prefer ESB cos I have a fear of heights and feel saver being fenced in rather than being exposed by all the perspex on the TOTR, from the ESB you gat a good view of my favorite building ';the Chrysler Building'; from the TOTR, however from TOTR you get a good view of ESb so the choice is yours

Thanks for everyones input... I get the impression that the ESB is more crowded so was trying to gauge if the view would be worth it? I dont like long queues and large crowds in small spaces...

If you don%26#39;t like crowds and small spaces, then I would recommend you stay away from ESB. Although I love it, and it%26#39;s so famous, I%26#39;ve been there dozens of times (touring friends from abroad) and there is almost always long lines, cramped elevators, and lots of people.

Sounds like TOTR might fit your tastes better.
