Hi,
I will be goin%26#39; to NY in May and will like to visit the factory outlet there. First i will like to find out which is the best Factory Outlet in NY. When i said Best, i mean the outlet have all the sizes.
Woodbury seems to be the outlet most tourists hit on. Is it the best? If yes, how can i get there in the shortest and cheapest way from Penn station?
Your prompt reply would be deeply appreciated.
Rgds

Not everyone agrees on which is ';best'; and some people even feel it%26#39;s a waste to go to the malls since there%26#39;s discount shopping right in Manhattan. What sizes do you need?
Factory Outlet in NYHi NYwhiz,
Thank you for your reply.
Recently i went to an outlet mall in Hong Kong and was kinda disappointed that the sizes there were either 2 big or 2 small. I%26#39;m of average size of 8-10,
hence it can really be waste of time to visit the outlet stores if knowing the common sizes are sold out.
By the way, if i were to take a bus there, i don%26#39;t have to buy the discount coupon cos in the other forum, they suggested i printed out the coupon from the Woodbury website itself as the discount coupons are the same.
Sorry to ask so many question, would u have any idea if there is any express coach from EWR airport to penn station instead of taking subway?
thanks
I%26#39;ve answered your bus question on the other thread. Unfortunately there is no bus to Penn station. If you prefer the bus to the train, take it to Port Authority and then take a taxi to your hotel.
As for the shopping, unless you want very high end things like Chanel, Gucci etc., I wouldn%26#39;t go to an outlet mall at all. Loehmann%26#39;s, Daffy%26#39;s and Filene%26#39;s all IN Manhattan are discount stores that will carry your size. If you%26#39;re staying near Penn station, Macy%26#39;s is right there and is always having a sale and also offers visitors an 11% discount if you register at customer service first with proof you don%26#39;t live here. Lord %26amp; Taylor is another nice dept. store on Fifth ave. that%26#39;s got nice clothes and also offers the visitor discount. Poster kateoz has also mentioned a discount store she found in the west 30%26#39;s. I%26#39;ll try to remember or find the post with the name.
ps, if you go on the bus to Woodbury Commons, you don%26#39;t pay extra for the discount coupons. I think they come with the price you pay for the trip.
Hi NYwhiz,
Yeah i saw your post in my other thread. Well, thanks for being so helpful. if you ever planning a trip to singapore, do let me know :)
I%26#39;m interested in brands like S.Faragamo, prada etc. I saw most factory outlets carry all the brands. Anyway, look like i have to make a trip to Woodbury. By the way, is SoHo worth visiting? I heard it%26#39;s like flea market that sells very unique stuff, true?
I will be spending 5 days in NY. hence, which shopping malls are worth visiting?
thanks
For brands like Ferragamo and Prada, I think Woodbury is your only option but don%26#39;t be disappointed if the merchandise and prices are not as great as you%26#39;d like. It%26#39;s hit or miss, just like the discount stores in Manhattan.
Soho is a neighborhood in Manhattan that has small boutiques-some with unique things, but also has a fair number of the chain stores that are also located elsewhere in Manhattan. There%26#39;s also a few outdoor flea market spots that should be listed in the FAQ. I think Soho is a fun place to shop and looks very different from other neighborhoods.
If you%26#39;re looking for specific things, NYmag.com/shopping
is a pretty good search engine.

I%26#39;m thinking the management at the Chanel boutique in Soho and Prada%26#39;s flagship store would be stunned to learn that the neighborhood has the reputation of being a flea market ;-)
Haha Cocklecove, i bet Ms Prada n Ms Chanel must be feelin insulted..well i got the info from the MTV channel few yrs ago...lol...u can%26#39;t blame me for my ignorant...;)
Anyway..really appreciate everyone for sharing such useful info with me...
Questions about shopping and outlet malls are some of the most popular questions on this forum. There are countless previous discussions and threads with great advice. It sounds like your guidebook is outdated, if it is still describing Soho as so funky and downscale. LOL, as was said, it%26#39;s predominantly designer stores now.
