Where to find d fine coffee and cherry pie please ...

On behalf on Agent Coopers everywhere here%26#39;s a challenge for the locals - is it possible to find some d**n fine coffee and/or cherry pie in New York? I say and/or as I can understand, having struggled to locate a decent cup of coffee on my last visit ( eventually located at Think Coffee and a cafe in Williamsburg, sorry forgot the name), it might be a bit of a tall order to find both together! I%26#39;m hoping the collective local expertise and knowledge can help. I last found it in Palo Alto,CA of all places, in a celebrated classic diner where they baked all their own pies - glorious experience, I was only missing the log tucked under my arm.

I%26#39;m going to be based in Murray Hill but will definitely travel...

MANY suggestions for good coffee here:

I think the best cherry pies are to be found at several farmer stalls in our Greenmarkets, but the Little Pie Company seems to be well-regarded in general on Chowhound (I%26#39;ve not purchased one of their pies, of any kind, recently enough to give a first-hand opinion):

P.S. The farmers typically sell individual-serving pies in addition to the usual size.

I have had Little Pie Company%26#39;s pies and they are excellent! They make individual pies as well as the larger size. I really like Joe the Art of Coffee which is located in Grand Central Terminal on the first level. Little Pie Company is downstairs as well so you could try both of them at the same time. Enjoy!!

Bubby`s Pie Company (bubbys.com) makes a knock out sour cherry pie and there are 2 locations.....Tribeca and Brooklyn. They serve breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.

Bubby%26#39;s gets mentioned for cherry pie on this blog

Shooz13 definitely gets the cigar! I%26#39;m so impressed -not only are the two desired items within spitting distance but in Midtown as well! I shall definitely try them both.

Many thanks also for the links to previous postings and useful websites -mmm sour cherry I%26#39;m drooling over the keyboard already - I%26#39;m gathering a list to sample whichever neighbourhood I%26#39;m wandering through. I will undoubtably be heading back to Williamsburg again though (loved loved loved it)and I%26#39;ll post the name of the place I visited last time as I seem to remember scoffing a delicious key lime slice with my d-f-coffee. Oh and sorry if I%26#39;ve unwittingly offended anyone with the %26#39;decent cup of coffee%26#39; sentiment but I had no idea it was such a sensitive issue - see CockleCove%26#39;s first link to previous posting discussion. Rather bemused to see so many removed postings following an enquiry for good coffee but entertaining reading nevertheless...thanks again

after a wk long intense cherry pie craving, and one store around times sq being closed when my boyfriend went, i saw that bubby%26#39;s is pretty close to my job. i decided to walk there in the cold (and trust me this is a MAJOR deal for me, i despise the cold!!) and bought 2 slices. i figured if it%26#39;s as good as the reviews, i%26#39;ll want a second later tonight and if not, then my boyfriend could have the second. the cherries are PERFECTLY sour with just the slightest bit of sweetness which is exactly how cherry pie should be. and the crust is a-mazing!!! i%26#39;m so glad i got 2 slices and am now dreading having to share the second one at home w/ my boyfriend!! =[ i%26#39;m also now afraid that knowing how great the pie is, and realizing how close they are to my job, i%26#39;ll be going there more than i%26#39;d care to since this does NOT taste like anything low fat! i%26#39;m just hoping the walk there and back will make up for a slice... every single day of the wk. :: sigh ::

Shhhhhh ...... jeepers, between Scarletminx and BrooklynMel pretty soon all the folks in Williamsburg will be over run by nosy tourist which will further destroy the whole mojo. But can you give us an idea where in Williamsburg you ate this pie and drank this coffee? Bedford Avenue? Perhaps Fabiane%26#39;s or maybe Blackbird Parlour?

Thanks so much for the recon oldskoo - I definitely want some of that pie, I think they might be prising slices out of my hot little hands and confiscating the pie boxes from my extra suitcase before I%26#39;m allowed to board the plane back home. Cupcakes are ok but pie, now you%26#39;re talking. And you%26#39;re so right, it is the just sweet enough but not too sharp balance that%26#39;s the thing.

Lotuspath you jogged my memory with the names and I did a little photo research as I knew I%26#39;d recognise it and it was the Blackbird Lounge. Sorry for blurting my appreciation of billyburg to the world of TA - I remember having a chat with a local storeholder about how seeing the building along the waterfront the area reminded me of Shoreditch in London where the developers moved in and pushed the prices up so the artists and creatives who had regenerated the neighbourhood couldn%26#39;t afford to live or work there anymore and her saying it was happening in Williamsburg. I think you%26#39;re safe from the ravaging tourist hordes just yet though. For myself, I kind of prefer the term %26#39;wanderer/loiterer%26#39; to %26#39;tourist%26#39; as rather than tick guide boxes I like to spend a little time just hanging out and exploring neighbourhoods and cultures, I don%26#39;t need anyone to get the best china out. Plus coming from a city myself I%26#39;m respectful that I%26#39;m visiting someone%26#39;s home not a huge disneyland, I observe how you do and act accordingly and try not to get in the way. You know, the simple stuff like not doing a %26#39;hello trees, hello flowers%26#39; hiatus blocking the busy exit to the subway while people are trying to get somewhere. Anyway hopefully you won%26#39;t even notice I%26#39;m there except for my meagre injection of cash into the local economy. I%26#39;ll just be the one eating all the pies!
