Over the last 10 years or so, NYC has been on an amazing program in updating its playgrounds. There are numerous great playgrounds scattered all over the city. It would be essential to have your kids romp in some of them to blow off steam. Besides, you can talk to actual NY Parents and discuss what it%26#39;s like to have kids in the City. I love Rockefeller Park in Battery Park, which would also be convenient to the Staten Island Ferry and downtown activities.

Riding the subway, esp with a window seat.

Staten Island Ferry.

Eating Mr. Softee ice cream and/or a street vendor pretzel.

FAO Schwarz or Toys R Us stores (but tell them it%26#39;s only a playroom, not a shop!)

Oops, toy stores already mentioned...

OK, how about: chasing pigeons and squirrels.
