Hi,
We have been hoping to visit New York for such a long time, and now we have the opportunity to visit in July.
It would be just my husband and myself, we%26#39;d like to see all the sights %26amp; take in a show or two. It would be our first time visiting New York.
I%26#39;m just worried about it being unbearably hot. What do you all think?
If you think that it wouldn%26#39;t be totally crazy, where would you suggest that we stay? We%26#39;d like to be within walking distance of Broadway, obviously an air-conditioned room !
Thanks in advance,
DenKe
NY in July, are we mad?
July and August - everyone leaves the City for holiday to cooler climes or at least where there is a nice breeze - not my favourite time to be in the City, but to each his own.
NY in July, are we mad?
If you%26#39;re crazy Denke then so are we. We%26#39;ll be in NYC in mid July. I%26#39;m just hoping it%26#39;s cooler than Texas. :D
It can be hot, but so what. There is air conditioning. see the museums when it is dreadfully hot, and on the plus side less people on the streets. New York is great anytime
The heat %26amp; humidity is usually worse in August ;-)
Hi %26amp; thanks for the speedy replies!
Ok, so we%26#39;re not completely crazy after all. Where would you suggest we stay? Any recommendatons would be very much appreciated :)
Denke, you might want to post the ';where to stay'; issue on a separate thread with a matching title. Good luck! :D
Thanks Teacher91 . . . . I%26#39;m also a teacher :)
And another crazy teacher here...we were there last July and really enjoyed the city. Yes, it was hot but if you dress comfortably you%26#39;ll be fine. Central Park and Washington Square Park are wonderful places to stop and smell the roses on a warm afternoon or evening.
As someone that actualy lives in NYC I can tell you that yes it can become hot and humid in July. It can also be pleasant and very comfortable. Just bring the right clothes and comfortable walking shoes as well.
During the peak hours plan on visiting a nice cool museum or do some shopping.
July is a great time to visit Central Park where you can walk around the greenery and even rent a row boat on the lake. It is also a perfect time of year to go on a cruise around Manhattan. I particulary like the night cruises where the temperature has cooled down and you see all the amazing lights of the City.
Another crazy teach chiming in- yes, it%26#39;s hot. So is most of North America in July. So what!! It%26#39;s NYC! Go have a great time!
