Hi,
We%26#39;re thinking of visiting New York in July, for 6 nights. Bearing in mind the heat %26amp; humidity, we%26#39;d like a comfortable, air-conditioned room within easy walking distance of Broadway theatres. Would any of you have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance,
Denke
Hotel near Broadway for first-timersBudget? There are probably over a hundred hotels in the area.
Hotel near Broadway for first-timersHello Denke,
You%26#39;ll get more responses if you let us know when in July and your budget. There are a lot of good deals right now.
Hi,
Sorry about that. Arriving 17th July, departing 23rd July. Budget, I know this sounds silly, but not really sure! We%26#39;d like a comfortable room, but would prefer to spend our money on shows %26amp; sightseeing, than on a really expensive room.
Does this make sense? This is our first time coming to New York, so we really are clueless!

The good news is that all NYC hotels are have air condition, so you%26#39;ll relax comfortably at your hotel.
Here are some suggestions for you to investigate. Check out the reviews here on TA and you can check rates on hotels.com (or similar sites).
Sheraton Hotel %26amp; Towers
Marriot Marquis
Westin New York Times Square
W Times Square
Paramount Hotel
Flatotel
Good Luck
The Marriott Courtyard Time Square. Light years cheaper than the Marquis, but the same rooms. 40th and Broadway. Rooms are huge by NYC standards and have lots of deals going right now. Go to web site www.courtyardtimessquare.com and check it out. Have a great time!
quikbook.com and
kayak.com
are the websites I use to ';shop'; hotels. Then I check the hotels%26#39; own websites to compare. If you%26#39;re only seeing 2 shows in 6 days, you really don%26#39;t need to stay in Times Square and might prefer another location closer to a park or the water.
The Michelangelo is a lovely hotel within a short walk of the theaters but closer to Central Park. It%26#39;s $199/night plus tax on quikbook.
Like whiz, I%26#39;m thinking that a July visit would be more enjoyable in a part of town that is not a concrete jungle. The Best Western Seaport Inn is available for your dates via Quikbook for $159/night for a room with queen bed, $169 for a king bed. This is a reservation that requires no deposit/payment in advance and can be canceled without penalty, with a minimum of notice.

But if you%26#39;re intent on Times Square, the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square is presently the best value (and the least expensive of the decent-better places to stay there). If you%26#39;re willing to pay in advance (and forfeit the sum if you cancel), you can get a queen or king-bedded room for just $143/night via the Hilton%26#39;s own website. If you prefer a no prepay/no cancellation penalty reservation, the room will be $179/night.
The Hilton Garden Inn is better imo than the Courtyard turnerbud referenced -- and not only because it%26#39;s so much cheaper for your dates (the least expensive rate for the Courtyard I%26#39;m seeing is $239/night; $299 for the Marriott Marquis). The Garden Inn room is at least 50 sq. ft. larger and also gives you a microwave, not available at the Courtyard; both places include a mini-fridge and coffee maker in their rooms.

Also, please know that local %26amp; state taxes/surcharges will add about 15% (gasp!) to your tab. And whatever you do, do not make a reservation at the Paramount; there is no fun to be had in their funky rooms that are cramped %26amp; poorly designed, and the hotel has not been well maintained/managed for some time.
Sorry, forgot to include the link to the Garden Inn%26#39;s website:

The InterContinental The Barclay is usually available on Priceline for under $160 for 2 in one queen bed. Quiet(er) location, 2 minute walk to Grand Central, and, thus, convenient to anyplace in NYC
Hi again,
Sorry for the delay in replying to you all. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions, I really appreciate them.
There%26#39;s plenty for me to check out there!
Thanks again,
DenKe
