Ok, received some great information and was recommended the Blakely by NYWhiz - great choice. Looks classic, suite, nice area to where I want to be. Ran through the reservation and after it is all said and done is like $1K for 3 nights...ouch that stings. Is there anything out there in that area, that feel, hopefully it has a small fridge/micro, I don%26#39;t care if it is a suite that I can lay my head down April 28, 29, 30. Will be there with my daughters 10 and 8. Would rather spend the extra $$ on them than the hotel. In a perfect world, under $200 a night would be great, but I understand this is NYC. Thanks.
Final Question on Hotel Choice...I Promise !!!
Try searching on Quikbook. I am sure you can do better than $1,000/3 nights.
Final Question on Hotel Choice...I Promise !!!
I answered you in PM.
Thanks NYWhiz! I guess I am not use to such a selection of places to stay in a small area, to say it is overwhelming is an understatement !
I looked up on Hotwire, your dates - came up with a four star hotel for $139 per night in the midtown central area which is where the Blakely is located. You could then go to
betterbidding.com
for a better idea of what this hotel is. The only caveat is that once you accept the offer, you%26#39;re obligated to it.
The places you list wanting to visit encompass a rather larger area and I mentioned early one, since they%26#39;re not all together, you could stay almost anywhere. All of the places that were suggested to you are within walking distance of the Phantom theater. There are dozens of hotels to choose from but when you add you want something small with a fridge and there are 3 of you, that narrows options.
I personally would choose the cheapest option which is the Millenium Broadway for $149 from travelzoo. But I%26#39;d phone the hotel and make sure they can accomodate 3 of you for that price and how. Your girls will love the views and the excitement of Times Square more than they%26#39;ll appreciate the small classic feel of the Blakely (imo) but you may not. ;)
If you want more space, the Doubletree Guest Suites is ideal and still cheaper than the Blakely.
NYWhiz - I want to thank you, I took your recommendation and booked a room at the Millenium Broadway at $149/night...let%26#39;s just say you saved me at least $500. We have the 2pm Phantom tickets I got off Broadway Box for $55 each and scored some really good direct flights for about $150 ea, now I just need to put a rough 4 day itinerary together. Here is what I am thinking: Tue arrive 11ish, drop stuff off at hotel check in if possible. Walk around times square area maybe get a juice and chill near Bryant Park. Make it over to Am Girl. and Rock area end with dinner. Wed take a cab for breakfast somewhere or walk to a greasy spoon (looking for non touristy prices, something local and decent for an old school breakfast - NEED RECOMMENDATION) then we go to Cent Park and walk around for a bit, go to zoo, carousel, Phanton in aft. Rest then go to dinner. Thurs - my 8 year old said she wants to shop so let me ask you, she has a coach purse and likes glitz and glamour where do you recommend, like an FAO type store and Macy%26#39;s I think that would be nice or some other fashion area, remember she is only 8. Later in the day my 10 year old, I want to bring her th NY Public library and Grand Central, that could be cool. Rest a bit and go to dinner somewhere. Fri afternoon we fly home so so maybe go somehwhere in morning.
I hope you phoned the hotel to make sure they will accomodate 3 of you at that price. ;)
I think you should start a new thread with your questions on itinerary so others will open and read. Right now, this thread is titled on hotels.
I think tromping through Central Park on the same day as the theater is a bit much. If the girls are not used to a lot of walking, they%26#39;ll be exhausted by the time you get to the theater at 2. I%26#39;d consider going to Central Park on the day you arrive if it%26#39;s nice and let them run around there after having spent the morning sitting on the plane or maybe on the morning you leave.
On Wed. morning instead of a big breakfast, do what the locals do and have a bagel or a roll with egg and cheese from one of the delis. The Cranberry Deli seems to get a lot of good feedback.

Imo it would be better to do American Girl and Rockefeller Center on the morning of the theater. Make sure to go up to Top of the Rock. Then have a quick lunch before the show. If you eat a big breakfast, you may not want lunch. John%26#39;s Pizzeria would be fun for lunch and it%26#39;s right next door to the theater. Share a pizza.
FAO Schwarz is for toys. For clothes for an 8 yr old, apart from the dept. stores (Macy%26#39;s, Bloomingdales, Lord %26amp; Taylor) or the discount stores (Century 21, TJ Maxx, Daffy%26#39;s), Berkley Girl on the upper east or upper west sides is another idea.
Will do, thanks!
