In the interest of stirring up some activity here ...
Not that he%26#39;s coming anytime soon, but I presume there are some ';No Reservations'; fans here. Assuming Tony came here for a weekend and you were his host, where would you take him? I don%26#39;t have an exact itinerary but I%26#39;m thinking I%26#39;d like to include the Public Market, Swan%26#39;s Market, Nick Tahou%26#39;s (too bad it%26#39;s not open 24/7, it was really best visited after the bars close), maybe Marge%26#39;s along with one of those burger/hot dog joints across the street in Sea Breeze ... other ideas?
Where would you take Anthony Bourdain in Rochester?
Dinasaur
Tom Whals
Wegmans
Gitizies after the bar rush
Where would you take Anthony Bourdain in Rochester?
agree with you on Tahou%26#39;s and Seabreeze burger stands (especially Don%26#39;s and Vic %26amp; Irv%26#39;s). Love the Public Market.
Abbott%26#39;s at the Lake?
I%26#39;ve seen the show but not enough to really understand what he looks for. Is it local joints, food specific or what?
He tries to seek out genuine local places, which could be anything from ';street food'; to cutting-edge cuisine, usually with bar or two thrown in. I%26#39;d say the aim of the show is to give you a feel for what it%26#39;s like to actually live, eat and drink in a particular city than simply to visit it as a tourist. By that standard Wegmans would be a must although I think he%26#39;d be much happier discovering some mom-and-pop deli or butcher shop that%26#39;s unchanged from 50 years ago.
I%26#39;ve not seen the show, but judging by your description, I would venture to say Hegedorns. (I%26#39;m sorry if I misspelled it...the curse of the transplant!! Haha...)
I totally agree with the Public Market, I love it there...though I thought I would still go in the winter time. Yeah...that didn%26#39;t happen. Can%26#39;t wait for the weather to warm up again!!
There%26#39;s also a few places along the canal in Fairport that would be good.
Public Market for empanadas at Juan %26amp; Maria%26#39;s
Nick Tahou%26#39;s for a garbage plate
Don%26#39;s Original in Seabreeze for a white hot
Abbotts in Charlotte for their frozen custard
Rubino%26#39;s on East Ridge Road in Irondequoit for just about anything!
Dinosaur for their pulled pork
Tapas for their calamari salad and steamed clams
