Has anyone stayed in the Cosmopolitan Hotel recently?

Hello again everyone

We are going to New York in 10 days and need to book our hotel quickly. I was considering the Barclay but it is quite expensive $1500 for 5 nts for 3 adults sharing a room.

What about the Cosmopolitan Hotel? It seems quite good and is a much better price - on hoteconnexions it is $900.39.

It is still fairly central i think%26gt;?

and is it a clean and pleasant hotel and area ?

I%26#39;m starting to get quite anxious as time is moving fast.

It%26#39;s hard to please my 17 year old son; he seems to want a big flashy expensive hotel!!

Many many thanks in advance.

Fiona

Ps. I%26#39;m a bit unsure of using priceline and hotwire....

Tell your son he can stay in a big, flashy hotel as soon as he can pay for it :-)

Frankly, I think you%26#39;d be better off paying a bit more for accommodations that offer kitchenette facilities so that you can enjoy some meals %26amp; snacks ';at home'; and save money by not going out to eat all the time.

In your earlier thread, nywhiz, the hotel expert here, suggested booking the Shelburne Murray Hill via Quikbook. That%26#39;s still available, but the Envoy Club, another suites/apartment-style hotel, is presently showing up there for less money.

And it has more panache than the Cosmopolitan which should please your son.

The Smyth Tribeca, which is right across the street fro the Cosmo, is very modern and slick. I went to look at a room, and the staff was friendly and strives to be upscale and glam. Might not fit your needs, but they were having offering discounts about a month ago.

I can save you research re: the Smyth Tribeca, Fiona. Unfortunately, its rooms with 2 beds are sold out for the dates you need.

Here%26#39;s the link to Quikbook, a very reputable booking service where reservations rarely require pre-payment; you typically can book now, pay when you check out of the hotel.

P.S. Remember what nywhiz told you previously: Priceline is *not* a viable option for you because you need a room that accommodates 3 people.

Thanks so much everyone. I am going out food shopping now (I wish the rain and wind would stop) but will be back to get this hotel business sorted asap!

I very much appreciate all your most helpful advice and support.

Fiona
