We are traveling to NYC in April. I have 2 boys 15 and 17. I am looking for a show to please the boys that their father can stand...
I know the boys would like to see Avenue Q. But not sure if the conservative father can take it. Would they be ok to go alone? We are not there on a weekend so the comedy brigade doesn%26#39;t work. My husband is not into musicals but he wants to go see something. My daughter and I are going to see Wicked. HELP! PS boys have seen blue man.

I think Gracious Home hit the wrong button.
I don%26#39;t know how conservative dad is but Mama Mia
is a fun show. It is about trying to decide which
one of three guys is the father of a girl getting
married--- but it is based on the Abba songs and
if you like that kind of music it is a great show.

Does Dad like ';South Park'; or ';Family Guy?'; If not, he probably won%26#39;t enjoy Avenue Q.
How about if the boys sees Avenue Q and Pops sees something else? You can all meet at Junior%26#39;s restaurant afterwards for some cheesecake.
I don%26#39;t know anything about age restrictions for seeing any show (not just Avenue Q), but I%26#39;m sure it won%26#39;t be a problem. Take the kids to the theater a bit early, and set them up there. (or, you go in with one son, exit, and then take the other kid in.)
If you would prefer this to be a joint father-sons evening, how about 39 Steps?
Think this summary of shows, aimed at providing guidance to parents, could be useful to you:

I%26#39;d check out the Blue Man Group. Silliness has no political affiliation. You%26#39;re kids will love it and so will dad. Try to get tickets for the first three rows, dubbed ';The Poncho Section.';
