My goodness, we have so much to do!!

Please help us decide on a nice hotel for 3 people sharing a room in Manhattan. 17 year old son and my husband and myself, we were considering somewhere really lovely like the Intercontinental or The Helmsley..

Many thanks in advance

You can get some really good deals on www.priceline.co.uk. You can either pay the rate they are advertising or go to the name your own price section and put in a bid. You state the area and minimum star level. I got the New York Helmslsey for 拢65/$90 per night in May.

Thanks Kas

I will definitely try it and that%26#39;s a great price you managed to get!

When m checking comparison sites its hard to get a good deal with 3 people in the room. Will that be a problem with priceline do you think?

Many thanks

Fiona

There are many hotels that will offer a king bed and

a sleep sofa in the same room. This may not be the

best situation but in the hotels you mention as you

narrow down the choices, give them a call directly and

ask them how they handle 3 in a room. They may or

may not charge for that feature.

You can NOT use Priceline for a room with 3 people in NYC. There are NOT many hotel with a room with a sofabed. Only suite hotels would have that. You can look at Hotwire.com and specify 3 in a room and use betterbidding.com

to try to figure out which hotel is being offered. You can also check travelzoo.com and quikbook.com and specify a room for 3. Most common option would be a room with 2 double beds.

I just did a quick search and there are relatively few rooms with 2 beds still available for the week leading up to Easter in the roughly $200/night price range -- in hotels that enjoy a reputation better than, e.g., the Hotel Pennsylvania. For example, the Intercontinental Barclay appears, even on its own website, to be entirely sold out for 4/7-12; the New York Helmsley still has rooms with 2 beds -- but only at its ';Executive'; level @ $340/night.

If you%26#39;re willing to scale down your expectations from ';somewhere really lovely';, the Doubletree Metropolitan still has rooms with 2 double beds, for a Super Sale rate of $145/night; $161 at the Super Sale rate also gives you a room on a higher floor and free breakfast for 2 of you.

FYI: government-imposed taxes %26amp; surcharges will add almost 15% to your bill :-(

I checked April 2 for 6 nights. Don%26#39;t know if that%26#39;s correct. The nicest thing I see is a 1 bedroom suite (without kitchen) at the Shelburne Murray Hill on quikbook.com for $197/night plus tax or with kitchen for $221 plus tax. These will have 1 queen or king bed and a sofabed in the living room. The hotel%26#39;s been newly renovated so the sofabed should be new and pretty comfortable. The hotel is near Grand Central terminal.

The Belvedere has a room with 2 double beds for $151/night on quikbook but I%26#39;m sure that%26#39;s not for a renovated room. You might prefer the location (near Times Square) but it%26#39;s not nearly the same space or freshness as the Shelburne.

The NY Helmsley is on quikbook for $227/night for 2 double beds. I personally don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s as nice as the Shelburne but your son might prefer the regular bed.
