Affinia Dumont or Residence Inn Times Square

We need some help in choosing between the Affinia Dumont or the Residence Times Square (Marriott)

They both have good reviews. We are not looking for a room with a kitchen to cook in but basically to have coffee etc and a fridge to keep cold drinks.

Which hotel is the better over all choice. We will be in New York for 7 nights

Affinia Dumont or Residence Inn Times Square

Sorry, should of read not looking to cook....just coffee etc if that makes a difference in your reply

This stupid cold does not have me thinking clearly

Feed back on better location overall room appearance would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Well...We%26#39;ve stayed at the Residence Inn and liked it. My husband liked the Keurig coffee machine in the room so much that he bought one when we got home! The hotel does give a free full breakfast that%26#39;s very popular with the guests. Since we prefer to try different restaurants when we%26#39;re in NYC, we only ate the hotel breakfast twice. The other days we would grab a pastry and then go elsewhere for breakfast. We%26#39;d stay there again---the location is great when it comes to accessing different subway lines.

The Affinia Dumont will make you feel more like a local. The area it%26#39;s in is a mix of residential and business. Some rooms on higher floors have Empire State views.

The Residence Inn is closer to Times Square and theaters and is almost totally a business/commercial area with office buildings, shops etc. Bryant Park is right nearby which is nice and the Residence Inn does include the free breakfast. Up to you which sounds better.

I have stayed at Residence Inn Times Square and not Affinia. The Residence Inn was very comfortable and quiet. My only complaint was that I left a pair of glasses on the table when we left for the airport. I called the Hotel as soon as I got to the airport(probably 45-50 minutes after check-out) and asked if someone would get my glasses--I told them exactly where they were. They asked me to call back in 15 minutes--which I did--and they said the glasses were not there. Rediculous! They didn%26#39;t disappeaer in that short time. For that reason I would not stay there again.

I%26#39;ve stayed at that Residence Inn and liked it but have never been to the Affinia Dumont. One thing I noticed from the photos of the Affinia Dumont provided by reviewers here on TA is that the rooms (the ones I saw, at least) seem to have two beds (doubles, I believe). I believe all of the rooms at the Residence Inn have one bed (King or Queen) and a sofabed.

mky22, I have stayed at both of these properties. Very different feel to both. Ist time to NYC the Residence Inn was a great choice, close to Times Square, Macy%26#39;s, MSG, Bryant Park. Breakfast included for us was a bonus as we%26#39;re a family of 6. Great hotel, newish rooms, well set up, however if you intend on using the sofa bed once it is open the room is tight.

The affinia Dumont was equally great in other ways, not as new in decor, rooms appeared to have more space, no breakfast included but that was OK there are great diners and restaurant around the hotel. Subway is also close by.

We loved both, however if it%26#39;s your first time to NYC I would possibly pick Residence Inn, due to it being closer to more Touristy areas. In saying that you definately won%26#39;t go wrong with either.
