Any great new restaurants?

Hello NY forum!

I%26#39;ve been going through old posts and having a look through the faqs like a good lad, not wanting to ask the same old questions - and came across Crans post from last April:

Anyone want to steak....I mean stake your NY forum form for any new contenders for 2009?

I need to book a few restaurants for my folks (they%26#39;ve already sampled many of your fine NY typical landmark restaurants in the past) .... but thought I%26#39;d check it out with you guys for something new (maybe last 18 months) before I booked anything.

They%26#39;ll be staying CP south last two weeks in March -so may already be too late for some places.

Also - any tips for %26#39;Little Italy%26#39;? Italian restaurants?

They tend to go there every so often and walk into the first place that they like the look of - a custom that they%26#39;ll probably continue with anyway - but thought they might like a suggestion if they can%26#39;t choose.

The single most exciting restaurant to open in that time is Momofuku Ko:

but I%26#39;m not sure it%26#39;s the kind of place I%26#39;d be in a hurry to send my parents. (Very adventurous, sitting on stools around a bar the whole time, etc.)

They are converts...they loved Daniel.

Both had a light fruit starter, one had venison the other black sole.

I didn%26#39;t check out their choice of vino...afterwards the team arrived with a birthday cake %26#39;surprise%26#39; to finish off the evening.

They were mostly impressed with the staff - someone (ma卯tre d%26#39;?) - hailed a cab while holding an umbrella to protect them from a downfall (of rain:) at the end.
