I have been looking over this forum for a few weeks now and have found the information here very useful. I have just about put together an itinerary and would be grateful for any of you knowledgable people to cast your eyes over it and let me know if there is anything thet you would change. We intend to use the buses and underground for our means of transport and will be buying the passes. We are staying at the Fitzpatrick Manhatten and will be flying in to Newark.

April 8-13 itinerary
Wow ! hope you are wearing running shoes. One slight
edit on Sunday spend a little more time in Central
Park. For Strawberry Fields enter at W72nd street
across from the Dakota and after viewing the John
Lennon mosaic continue down the path to the
Bethesda fountain- clearly one of the nicest spots in
the park then continue past the fountain up the path
to the boathouse and then to the conservency waters
to the East side of the park. You will then be on
5th Avenue. Turn right and either walk down 5th or
take a bus on 5th (one way going downtown) get off
at St Patricks and Rockefeller Center will be on
your right. Radio City is on the other side of that
building on 6th Avenue. Cross the street walk down
town to 42nd street on either 7th ave or Broadway
to see Times square.
April 8-13 itinerary
Those are the exact dates that I will be there. If you do go to Central Park on Sunday, follow the directions from the previous post and head down 5th Ave. for the Easter Parade- great photo op of some fancy Easter bonnets, should be worth a look.
sorry me again. I didn%26#39;t recognize it was easter,
only change would be definitely walk down 5th as the
buses will be diverted. If you have already seen
5th by that time you can always jump on the R train
going down town at about 60th and 5th. Easter Parade
is not really that big a deal to NY%26#39;ers and as I
remember it is over quite early but seeing all the
people going the various churches on 5th (there are
at least 3). If you do take the train you can either
get off at 49th or 42nd and you will be in Times
Square area
Double check the UN web site...I think they are closed that Friday...Good Friday.
Thanks for the replies and advice, much appreciated. The UN is closed on Good Friday and also at the weekend, although I could not see this information on their website. I emailed to check and they replied very quickly, I think we may try to fit this in on the Monday morning.
I have found the evening entertainment the most difficult to decide on; there%26#39;s so much choice, we may still change some of that. This is our first vist to New York and we%26#39;re getting quite excited.
