New York in October

My partner and I are due to spend 3 nights in New York in October and currently are finding that the cost of hotels there are seriously pricey!

Could anyone recommend any tips on getting good deals or even where is best to stay as we don%26#39;t want to have to travel alot once we%26#39;re there.

Thanks in advance!

Watch www.quikbook.com and www.travelzoo.com for specials.

Stay out of Manhattan - in Long Island City, Jersey City or Hoboken - for cheaper rates. There%26#39;s a whole post about this in the FAQ. Have a look there for more info.

Hotwire and Priceline are good - although you can only use Priceline if you are 2 people, not more - and use www.biddingfortravel.com and www.betterbidding.com for info on how to use these sites.

New York in October

Book something now that can be canceled later, and then watch the hotel websites and agencies like Quikbook and Travelzoo for better deals between now and October. I think you%26#39;ll see better offers as your trip grows closer. With October more than six months away, I imagine many hotels are keeping their options open in the hope that they will be able to book rooms at relatively high rates.

Go with Jensdad recommendation. As one who used to

travel here all the time and now lives here, if you

are that far out what you are looking at is rack rates

probably. What is your outside budget. If at all

possible stay in Manhattan to get the NYC experience.

Agree with everything that%26#39;s been said above. Keep in mind you can%26#39;t be near everything. Sometimes the best deals are not in such central locations so you have to decide what%26#39;s most important to you. I sincerely hope you%26#39;re not trying to come the last weekend of the month of Oct. which is both Halloween and the lead in the NYC Marathon-a pricey time.
