Easter Day Mass @ St. Patricks

Just to warn people... I have been trying since last Fall to get 3 ';free'; tickets to the 10:15 tickets required Mass on Easter. I have written, called, and e-mailed..... Still nothing. Every time I call I get a different response. I have sent self addressed stamped envelopes twice like they asked... Now they say the tickets are all mailed out! Guess we will go to a different time, or any ideas on another Catholic church to attend? Oh well. We were looking forward to this.

Oh wow -- that explains! We have also sent an inquiry via email and they requested for self stamped envelope as well. Sent it already but still nothing!

We will be with our 7yo daughter so I%26#39;m not sure if she cans it through the Easter Vigil.

Appreciate suggestions on where we can hear mass on Easter Sunday. TIA

In what area? Of course there are heaps of Catholic churches in Manhattan. You can search here:

http://www.ny-archdiocese.org/

St. Patrick%26#39;s website lists Easter mass at 7:00, 8:00, 8:45, 10:15 am (Tickets Required), Noon, 1:00 and 5:30 PM.

Has anyone tried the other times in previous years? Is it too busy to bother trying to get in?

Thanks for asking-my point in trying to get tickets was to be sure to get in. We are weekly Mass attenders at our church- and cannot get in on Easter Sunday in Suburban Detroit unless we arrive way ahead of time. Is it worth going to any of the times that do not require tickets?

I was hoping for the';St. Patricks'; type experience for my family being in NYC and all...

What is the next large historic type church to go to?

Easter Mass at St Patrick%26#39;s is not a tourist attraction - as GWB so eloquently describes, it is a solemn ceremony and the cathedral staff has more than likely made sure that parishioners of the cathedral have first rights to seating at the Mass of their choice on Easter Sunday - hence the lack of tickets being sent to visitors and tourists.

As mentioned there is no lack of Roman Catholic churches in the 5 boroughs.

GWB, I believe your preaching post was unnecessary. What the poster was trying to ask, is ';is it worth trying one of the other Mass times - will we get in if we go to another time? Or should we forget St Patrick%26#39;s and head to another church?';

There is no need to be so completely holier-than-thou on this occasion.

I wish I knew the answer for you, Irisgracie, but I don%26#39;t. I%26#39;ve never tried to go to St Pat%26#39;s for Easter.
