Hello everyone, it%26#39;s been a while since I%26#39;ve posted but I%26#39;m back for the honest and reliable advice I%26#39;ve come to know on T.A.
I%26#39;ll be arriving in New York on the 7th of April for the first time in twenty eight years. I expect it will have changed loads and I%26#39;m really looking forward to it. It%26#39;s also my wifes first time there so she%26#39;s very exited and a shopaholic (should be all good eh?). I hope to buy a new Ovation accoustic guitar when I%26#39;m there so can any body recommend a store?. I%26#39;m staying in Fitzpatricks grand central in midtown so directions to a store would be great. Also is easter time a busy touristy time and will I need to pre-book attractions to avoid suicidally long queues. We will definitley catch a couple of shows while there so what do you think ';Lion King or Wicked'; ';Jersey boyz or Phantom';. I know thats lots of question but I%26#39;ve loads of catching up to do.
Easter in New York
For Lion King, Wicked and Jersey Boys, you need to investigate tickets now. I%26#39;d hate for you to turn up and be disappointed. These are the most popular shows on Broadway (along with Billy Elliot), don%26#39;t have discounts and are regularly sold out.

- Jersey Boys
For Phantom or other shows, you should be able to get discounts on www.broadwaybox.com
Easter in New York
I just posted this in response to another question this AM re: guitar shops. It would be more of a ';destination'; for you than a store in Manhattan but my out-of-town friends and friends-of-friends who are guitar enthusiasts are wild about it.
The guitar [and mandolin, banjo, ukelele] mecca in NYC is Mandolin Brothers on Forest Avenue in Staten Island; enjoys equal ranking with Gruhn Guitars in Nashville. The likes of George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, Bella Fleck have patronized the shop for purchases (stock includes exceedingly rare Les Paul guitars) and repairs. Neighborhood kids look for celebs alighting from limos in front of the store, but you can get there by taking a ~15-minute bus ride from the Staten Island ferry terminal.

Hey thanks for that ...Broadwaybox looks really useful for deals on tickets. Have you used it yourself whats the format. do you print out a voucher and bring it with you to the theatre?
Thanks CockleCove that looks like a solid possibility I%26#39;ll check it out. Do you know of any others in Midtown ?
I use Broadwaybox regularly (I%26#39;m a Broadway-aholic) and it%26#39;s great. You can either print the code and take it with you to the theater box office, or purchase online in advance by following the link to www.broadwayoffers.com . Very reliable and much less hassle than standing on line at the TKTS booth in Times Square. (That%26#39;s a waste of precious vacation time, IMO.)
