Help me chose my honeymoon hotel from this list

Hi all

That age old question on which honeymoon hotel in NYC. Am looking for best relation between price and quality, the list below has prices i have found directly with hotels. (like character in hotels, be it modern or traditional). We will be there for a week from 16th June 09.

A bit about us: 32-30 years old and love to do what the locals do when visiting a new city. Love to explore on foot and our perfect evening would be a couple of glasses of wine before going to dinner, then a bar after, before (hopefully) walking back to the hotel.

I have been to New York befor but my Fiancee not, so obviously we will be needing to see all the toursit sites too.

I love the West Village, Soho, Tribeca area and have stayed in the area around Madison Pk and found it to be a convenient area also.

anyway, onto the list.

Bryant Park - 465/nt

Giraffe - 400/nt

Library - 400/nt

Soho Grand -500/nt

have also seen the new Smyth hotel Tribeca which currently is much cheaper but am concerned with it being both new and maybe too far downtown..

any ideas or alternatives oh wise forum?

thanks so much

Matt

Help me chose my honeymoon hotel from this list

Hi valenciache, Congrats !! We live in NYC and we spent our first night at the Peninsula, 5th Avenue and 54th, used to be called the Gotham. I thought it was great 38 years ago, and it still looks good.

Help me chose my honeymoon hotel from this list

My choices would be in this order:

Soho Grand

Byany Park

Giraffe

Another suggestion is a popular place for your honeymoon.

I also like the Elysee same hotel group as Giraffe.

Michelangelo.

Also a favorite of mine.

Good luck and let us know what you choose !

thanks so much guys

I have been looking for about a month and the deeper i delve the more i get confused!!

agree the grammercy looks great but at this time, quite a bit more expensive, want no more than 500..

what about the hotel on rivington? cool windows but maybe not the best spot to be in-walk about?

or the Bowery?-location looks good, or one of the Thompson hotels?....oh my, sorry guys too many eh!

forgot to mention, would like a hotel where street noise is not so much of a problem, i appreciate its nyc and do expect noise, but at some time i would like to get some sleep!!

cheers

valenciache

quite different (I guess) than what you%26#39;re considering, but check The Iroquois Hotel. Boutique hotel near Times Square, but quiet enough because it%26#39;s not in the middle of it all. I love this place. Small rooms, but very nice.

I think hoensetly the Giraffe might suit you. It%26#39;s alittle less $ then the others and many posters have enjoyed this hotel .

Meaning after what you described and sorry I spelled honestly wrong lol.

The Thor on Rivington could be a real interesting experience, a lot of restaurants, close to transportation, and you could walk around a lot.

The Giraffe, Library and the Elysee (3 different neighborhoods) belong to the same hotel group

hkhotels.com and among the amenities, offer free wine and cheese in the early evening. The Girafee is the most residential location in the Gramercy area not far from Madison Square Park. There are a lot of good restaurants in that neighborhood.

If you%26#39;d rather stay a bit further downtown in a trendier hotel, Hotel on Rivington, the Bowery and the new Thompson LES (part of the Thompson group who also own the Smth) are on the lower east side (a lot of bars and restaurants). In Soho, I think 60 Thompson or the Mercer are nicer than Soho Grand. You haven%26#39;t mentioned the meatpacking district but I think the Gansevoort is another option you should consider.

Bottom line, I think you should book 1 (or more) cancelable reservations and keep an eye out for specials as it gets closer. New hotels are still opening and if the economy continues downward, there may be much better prices.

In addition to reading reviews here, you should look at the list of hotels on

hipguide.com

and

hotelchatter.com

has good info on new hotels.

Wishing you all the best on your upcoming marriage.

PS

travelzoo.com

quikbook.com

lastminutetravel.com

are places that have good sales. You might want to register for free email on specials from those sites. I know you may feel that booking directly with the hotel is better for a honeymoon, but these websites are very reliable and if you know the price, you can always try contacting the hotel to match it. Obviously, wherever you chose, make sure they know it%26#39;s your honeymoon as they are sure to upgrade you if they can.

Thank you all so much for your great advice

i麓ll spend the afternoon racking my brains (pretending im working)
