Hi all,
I%26#39;m a regular on the Boston board but don%26#39;t be too hard on me, my 12yo is a Yankees fan. ;)
I%26#39;m looking for a hotel in a touristy area for 2 adults and 2 kids (10 and 12), in April for under $250 per night.
Thinking Times Square, but am open to other sugguestions ... don%26#39;t care if it%26#39;s a chain hotel, independent or a boutique hotel, as long as it can accomodate all of us ...
I%26#39;ve avoided priceline, etc, becuase I know I can%26#39;t be guaranteed 2 beds. The places I%26#39;ve tried on-line seem to have availabiltiy of rooms only with one bed. Am I asking for the impossible? Would I have better luck calling directly? I really don%26#39;t want to spring for two rooms.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks so much.
Hotel for family of 4 ...
If you give us the dates, people here can give you more precise recommendations. If you%26#39;re coming during Easter vacation, you are ';in competition'; with more families/groups for the rooms with 2 beds (which are less plentiful here than in some other places).
Hotel for family of 4 ...
This isn%26#39;t in the Times Square area, but check TravelZoo, hotels.travelzoo.com/new-york-hotels/551304, for a special offer for the Shelburne Murray Hill Hotel. I just booked a 1-bedroom suite for $199/night. There is an option for 1 or 2 beds, plus extra room to spread out which is unusual for NYC. The hotel gets good reviews and has been recently renovated.
Thanks. We we%26#39;d like to arrive April 23 and depart on the 26th. This isn%26#39;t Easter week but it is ';April Vacation'; here in Massachusetts and I believe some other school districts may also have this week off.
The Shelburne Murray Hill is available for the nights you need for $179/night for a 1-BR, 2 bath suite via the Travelzoo link shoppergirl provided.
If you want to be a bit more central, closer to Central Park %26amp; don%26#39;t mind not having a suite arrangement, the Shoreham, at 33 W. 55th Street (between 5th %26amp; 6th Aves.) has a deluxe room with 2 queen beds for a special price, via Travelzoo, of $209/night:

Those are both great options. The only things I see in the Times Square area are more than you want to spend. There is a 4* in Times Square on Hotwire for $225/night that looks like the Crowne Plaza. That will be just 2 double beds. I%26#39;d personally rather have the 2 queens at the Shoreham which is very central or the 1 bedroom suite with 2 baths at the Shelburne, both for less money.
Thanks everybody! I appreciate your input and will check out travelzoo now.
Keep in mind hotel tax in NYC will add ~ 16% to these quoted prices.
On your dates, Quikbook is offering a room with 2 queen beds for $196 at The Hotel at Times Square. Rates include breakfast and this will be a more spacious room than The Shoreham. I see that the hotel`s website, applecorehotels.com isn`t showing avialaility on your dates, so if you have an interest, I would grab this while it`s still available. It can be cancelled with no penalties.
Please accept a belated thank you for all the suggestions ... after much debate on our end we booked the Shelburne Murray Hill. We liked the idea of returning to some place a bit quieter after a busy day. And as an added bonus, my husband will get to revisit his youth and see how much things changed because he lived around here for a few months after graduating college in the late 70s!
