Is it worth it to buy Gray Line hop on hop off ahead of time

This is our first time in New York. We think that the hop on hop off would be great for us. Should we purchase the 48hr pass for $44 ahead of time or wait till we arrive? Are we saving anything by buying ahead of time? Any info would be great.

Buy it when you arrive and are going to begin using it. Hint - it is NOT the most fun way to see NY in lousy weather and no matter what you do - buy a MetroCard as well.

When you go into any subway station, there are machines. You just use your credit card or cash and follow the directions on the screen.

If you search this forum for subway advice, there are several very useful posts regarding fares and which type of card to buy.
