Restaurant in Riverdale

We are visiting my grandmother ( 96y) this weekend. She lives in Riverdale. I would like to change from a diner she usually suggests ( not really good) and try something new.

Coming from Montreal,we like good restaurants and are looking for something a bit nicer and tastier and a place we can bring an elder woman. We have a car so we can drive a few blocks or so.

and then using the search nearby function for restaurants, Jake%26#39;s Steakhouse is getting very good reviews.

While there may be nicer places I would suggest you go where Grandma suggests. Elderly people are frequently not comfotable in new situtations. Your fancy restaurant ( sorry I can%26#39;t offer concrete suggestions) may be uncomfortable for her. In her diner she knows the menu, knows the layout and feels at home. Instead of worrying about one not so good meal, enjoy the time spent with your grandmother. You are very very fortunate to still have her.

In this case, I agree that you should probably just go to the diner.

Frankly, the restaurants in Riverdale aren%26#39;t great. The neighborhood had one good restaurant that recently closed, but outside of that, you%26#39;d have to drive to another area of the Bronx to find what it sounds like you%26#39;re looking for.

There are some lovely restauarants in Riverdale, my favorite is Madisons(718 543 3850) on Riverdale Avenue across from the food emporium. Next door and across the street from Madisons are 2 lovely reestauants. Madisons has a great meal, not very expensive, all entrees come with salad , fish is good, chef is inventive and they can do very simple stuff too.

If you are near the main part of town, johnson avenue, thee is a very good japenese restaurant and an old favorite coffeshop/ called blue bay. Its like a diner but smaller and more like what Grandma is used toenjoy!!
