St Patricks day parade

Just back from a week in New York, which was organised to coincide with the SPD parade, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Was lucky enough to get a seat, courtesy of NY police,on the crowd control barriers!, five of them bunched together on 46th st, made for a great viewing podium! And didnt lady luck shine on us Irish, with the weather? For five hours, we basked there in the sunshine, more than we got here in Ireland for all of last summer!!! `We went to Foley,s pub and restaurant, opposite Empire State Building afterwards ';to drown the shamrock'; as they say round these here parts, and I would like to compliment the waitresses from Galway, Castlepollard, and New York, and bar staff there, Eilish the barmaid, who was hoarse at the end of the night! We were the two dolls who were in your way all night,at the end of the bar!!Having read some TA reviews about Irish bars and the drunken scenes, people being sick etc, I feel I should say that any such behaviour I saw, was from young american students, maybe of Irish extraction ,who knows? As an Irish citizen, I felt very proud being Irish in New York on St Patricks Day 2009,I found everybody to be so friendly,I am already looking foward to going back hopefully next year.

St Patricks day parade

Glad you had a good time.

So, can you remember what else you did here?

St Patricks day parade

Of course I remember what else I did ,queensboulevarde, just because we drink, that doesnt mean we lose our memories!!Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island,a sitdown and a pleasant chat with some guy about feet? in Battery Park, as the sun set,Woodberry Common, Macys,a nice chinese meal in Chinatown, of course. St Patricks Day parade,Foleys, to drown the shamrock.A long walk in Central park where I watched some NYP train their big black beautiful alsation dogs to fetch balls and sticks, also to use the pooper scoopers.Shared the nicest cinnamon roll with the birds who then turned round and did the proverbial on me ,not once but twice!!Life can suck but its supposed to be a lucky sign here in Ireland!!St Patrick,s cathedral, saw the beautiful Waterford crystal cross in St Patricks corner and all the rest .Off down 5th ave, visited Tiffany,s ,across to Grand Central Station where I watched the world go by. Shopped in Grand Central Market.Took the metro to SoHo to get the Ugg boots! Fanelli,s bar and restaurant, Ground Zero, Century 21, St Pauls chapel,Times Sq as the lights dimmed as a mark of respect to Natasha Richardson RIP. A long and leisurely stroll up Broadway, visited a record shop with memorbelia and musicsheets which for the life of me I cant remember its name,, but I know one of the staff told me he bought his firstrecord there thirty years ago.Mamma Mia and a whole lot of fun. Howz that for action ,Queensboulevarde?

Gee whiz, meezygo, I don%26#39;t think anyone has ever meant to imply that the drunkenness that might be attendendant on St. Patrick%26#39;s Day is the work of the native Irish! Sensitive much, are you? Certainly people from here know it%26#39;s likely Americans. Surprised you got any impression otherwise and wonder how that happened.

Anyway, I%26#39;m glad you enjoyed your time and was proud to be Irish, as you should be.

Come back and enjoy!

Sounds like an awesome trip. Did you get to see the Irish Hunger Memorial in Battery Park? If not, put it on your ';to do'; list for next time.;)

That record store and music store was probably

Colony Records.. come back soon
