Looking for the boards advice on where to eat in the area. We are taking our son for a tour of SUNY Brockport and will be staying at the Courtyard / West, Greece. Looking for Italian / Pub type (burgers, wings etc...). Great pizza too. Pretty much anywhere between Rochester and Brockport will be fine. Will be arriving on a Friday night so something closer to the hotel might be better that night but Saturday night we can travel abit between. Breakfast and Lunch favorites welcomed also for Sat. and Sun. Thanks in advance!
Where to eat?Near your hotel are just about all the chains and some nice local spots. Try The Distillery on Ridge Road near the 390 overpass. Very nice local spot for good pub food. Lots of flat screens for the sports fan. There%26#39;s a Famous Dave%26#39;s BBQ across the street. And an Olive Garden.
There are several good local Italian restaurants near by and I hope another poster will point some out.
There are also some cute spots in the village of Brockport.
Where to eat?The Distillery is a decent place. I%26#39;m also a fan of TC Hooligans, there%26#39;s a location in the Greece mall, but I much prefer the location in Webster. (Greece one is okay though.) Also, if you feel like traveling a bit, there%26#39;s Rohrbach%26#39;s in Gates.
All of the above are local places, more of pub/sports bar types than anything else. For lunch, if you haven%26#39;t tried it, I suggest heading into Rochester and going to Dino (I know there%26#39;s one in NYC somewhere...)
As for Italian places, I tend to stick with in the city or the East side, so I%26#39;m not familiar with them, hopefully someone here can recommend some.
Red Fedele%26#39;s Brook House seems to be a big favorite Italian restaurant in the area. It%26#39;s just down Ridge Road a ways... to the West. Near your hotel there%26#39;s also one called DaVinci%26#39;s (I think) in a strip mall on the Ridge.
You do realize that you%26#39;re going to have to drive about half an hour to Brockport, right?
Lynn in Rochester, NY
Lynn,
Thanks for your suggestions. Fedeles looks nice so maybe we will hit there on friday night when we arrive. The Distillary as Kat suggested looks cool also!
We are aware that we are @ 20 minutes to SUNY Brockport. We usually try to stay at a Courtyard and I believe that this was the closest one to the college. It is sort of in the middle and near Rochester. We have never been to Rochester before so that will be nice to see also.
We will be at the college early Sat. and will try to have lunch there in Brockport after the tour. Then onto Rochester to explore and zero in on a place for dinner. Finally, up on sunday to drive home to LI after breakfast.
So any other suggestions for a Brockport lunch, a Rochester city dinner as well as nearby breakfast would be welcome.
Thanks again to all who answered my post!
HI. It appears only eastsiders have been responding to your post, and I am one of them. I can recommend the South Wedge Diner (South Clinton Ave) and Billy%26#39;s Homestead (Empire Blvd) for breakfast. You could also get lunch at either one.
I don%26#39;t know if you will want to travel to our side of town or not, but I am not overly familiar w/ westside restaurants. There must be some westsiders out there!!! :)
