Hi:
Planning on going to NYC last wk of June with kids 9 and 6 -- not sure which hotel to choose?
Price, Location and attractions are at the top of my list.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
thank you
Best Western President or Le Meridien NYC
You%26#39;ve obviously not looked at reviews or photos. The Best Western President is a mariginal budget hotel (I%26#39;d guess 2.5*) while the Parker Meridien is a 4* hotel. The problem with the Parker Meridien is I don%26#39;t think their rooms will sleep 3 or 4 people. Imo neither of these is ideal. There are dozens of other options. What about one of the Affinia hotels? Or the

Best Western President or Le Meridien NYC
I can%26#39;t get very enthusiastic about either one: I think there are better budget/moderately priced hotels than the Best Western President and better, more expensive hotels than Le Parker Meridien.
What prices have you found for these 2 establishments, what appeals to you about each one of them?
And what%26#39;s a realistic budget for your family? We don%26#39;t want you to spend all your vacation money on a place to sleep :-)
Our budget is about $200.00/night. Looking for a hotel that sleeps 4 and looking to see a few attractions:
Rockfellar Centre, Central Park, Ferry Ride and Fao Schawarz and also do some shopping.
NYC is so overwhelming not really sure which would be the best location. It seems like you need to cab wherever you go.
Any help always appreciated.
Thank you.
It%26#39;s true that not all the usual tourist sights are clustered together. But no need to worry about the expense of a cab; our public transportation system -- consisting of buses %26amp; subway trains -- operates 24 hours a day %26amp; it is inexpensive and safe (altho%26#39; in all honesty, our subway stations are mostly old %26amp; pretty ugly).
In order to best help you, we really do need your precise dates of stay because hotel rates do fluctuate, even within the same rate. Have you decided exactly when you will be here %26amp; how many nights you are staying -- or are you not yet committed to exact dates?
';in all honesty, our subway stations are mostly old %26amp; pretty ugly';
I disagree! I love the tile mosaics in many of the stations. Sometimes you really have to look for them, but they certainly are amusing. Here in Calgary we have very functional train stations (above ground), devoid of any decoration.
Were hoping to go to NYC last few days of June for about 3 nights.
Just looking for a nice, clean hotel moderatley priced hotel which is situated close to major attractions ie: Rockfellar Centre, Central Park, and close to catch the ferry at ellis island.
Thank you
Looks like you will save money by waiting until Sunday, June 28, to arrive. Here are the 3 nicest possibilities I see available for 6/28 - 7/1, all for about $190/night, listed in their order on the Trip Advisor popularity list. I have included links to the hotels%26#39; own websites and their TA reviews so you can more easily check rates from various sources [each TA listing has a Check Rates feature that%26#39;s so handy]:
* Hilton Garden Inn Times Square: good-sized rooms (by Manhattan standards) with microwave, mini-refrigerator %26amp; coffee-maker (so you could easily have breakfast %26amp; snacks in your room %26amp; save money):

* the Belvedere Hotel, also in the Times Square/Theatre District -- their rooms, not just suites, include a small kitchenette with microwave, mini-refrigerator %26amp; coffee maker

* the Belleclaire, on the Upper West Side, close to Central Park, easy subway ride downtown to Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island ferry ; rooms have refrigerator but no microwave %26amp; perhaps no coffee maker

Also, consulting a map will help you become orientated and better appreciate why we say the fact that there is no hotel that is close to all the sights, or even close to all 3 places that you mentioned in your most recent post.

Thank you so much for all the info! I will definately pick up a map - and do some research.
