Hi All
This is my first post so hope its in the right place. We are hoping to come to new York on our honeymoon in 2010.
We have been to new york before and stayed in mid town near macys and the empire state, however this time we would like to stay nearer to central park. We have found a couple of hotels - the park central, the wellington and the roosevelt and i was wondering if anyone could advise what these hotels are like or have any other recomendations?
We are the sort of people who want a clean, comfortable hotel room but at the end of the day will literally sleep in it.
Thanks

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Jumeirah Essex House in Central Park South and the Mandarin Oriental. Both were great but also expensive.

If you are looking for clean, comfortable and not too expensive...you can go on Quikbook and look out for the 6 Columbus hotel. You can check out the reviews and the pictures here. I have stayed there 5 times and you will probably, depending of what time of year, spend less than 200$ per night if you settle for a queen or a king room.
The 3 hotels you mention are considered just ok budget hotels. None of them strike me as a honeymoon sort of hotel. I agree with cricri that 6 Columbus would be a much better option. It%26#39;s a new trendy hotel that can sometimes be had for a good price. Warning though, their ';pod'; rooms are just that, really really small. Don%26#39;t book one of those but a queen or king room while not huge, will be just fine.
The Helmsley Park Lane is another interesting option. It%26#39;s right across from the park and is something of an elegant place but many of the rooms have very dated furniture. If you don%26#39;t mind that, sometimes that%26#39;s available at a very good price on quikbook and you can sometimes get a room with a view of the park.
The Parker Meridien is another good idea if you can find a good price for it.
A recently discovered and new favorite of mine is The Rockefeller Center Hotel (rockefellercenterhotel.com). It`s a part of the small Club Quarters chain and in a terrific midtown location adjacent to Rockefeller Plaza, Radio City Music Hall, St. Patrick`s Cathedral and 5th Avenue Shopping. Rooms are somewhat small, but the hotel opened in 2006 and everything still has a contemporary and new sheen. The lobby is tiny, so if a glitzy, big city vibe is important to you, this may not be a good fit, but the 7th floor Terrace Club is beautiful and in June a great place for an al fresco breakfast or cocktail overlooking the plaza.
Congratulations on you upcoming marriage...
Don%26#39;t forget to check out the Bed and Breakfasts and the Specialty Accommodations listed on TripAdvisor...
Many located near the park and offer beautiful accommodations ...
You might also want to check out On the Ave, about two blocks from the park or The Excelsor, across the street from the park.
