We are visiting Toronto from UK in August, then onto Niagara %26amp; are now thinking of flying from Buffalo to Chicago for a few days!
If we rent a car in Toronto, can we drop it at Buffalo or is this a problem?
Not too sure what the rules are between Canada %26amp; US. We may even want the car again on our return!
Any advice please?!
Flying out of BuffaloYou might want to contact Alamo car rental (www.alamo.com) to see if that%26#39;s possible. They have an office at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport and also have offices in Canada, and obviously you%26#39;d have to rent from a company that operates on both sides of the border.
Flying out of BuffaloHi salmalcom;
There are some car rental companies that will not permit their cars across the border, or have different pricing if the rental car goes out of the province or out of the country. Most of the larger rental companies will allow cross border rentals.
The cost of one-way rentals is much higher than a regular rental due to the drop fees charged, as the vehicle must somehow be returned to the point of origin, towed if necessary.
Ensure that the rental company notes on the rental agreement that they authorize you to take the car into the US. You may be asked by Customs when entering the US for this documentation.
Best Regards
My advice is: definitely go to Chicago - it%26#39;s a great American city! Very different in quality and character from NYC. If you like architecture or tours, then don%26#39;t miss the Chicago Architecture Foundation. Their boat tour called the ';river cruise'; is the BEST, and the walking tours are also excellent. http://www.architecture.org/tours.aspx There%26#39;s also, of course, plenty of Frank Lloyd Wright to see in Chicago.
Don%26#39;t forget to check out JetBlue for cheap flights from Buffalo to Chicago.
