When travelling in Florida years ago I bought some ';blackstone'; calling cards at the SHELL gas station near Ocean Drive.
I was able to call 300+ minutes to The Netherlands (+31)
In San Francisco I bought a Chinese calling card with exact the same amount of minutes.
Can someone tell me where to buy (or pre-buy) those cards ?
Most of the times they have a 212- number and a freephone (1-800) number.
I will be in NYC 8-14 april and need to call home several times. I will bring my dutch T-mobile cell phone with me but it%26#39;s still pretty expensive to call 100+ minutes :)
New York City calling cards ?
Head to any Duane Reade (not hard to find, there%26#39;s one every block or so). At the front of one of the aisles, near the cash registers, you%26#39;ll find a rack of calling cards.
%26#39;World%26#39; cards (blue and green) and NYC cards (bright blue, yellow writing) are the best deals. I have around 400 minutes to call England and Australia for $10.
New York City calling cards ?
.40/minute sounds pricey to me kateoz. Wouldn%26#39;t you be better getting an int%26#39;l plan on your home phone?
I bought the BOSS card via Uniontelecard.com
Probably I will buy a prepaid AT%26amp;T card via EBAY.
Not sure if they have free 1-800 calling and free incoming calls ?
um, whiz, that%26#39;s 2-1/2 cents per minute :-)
Earth to whiz, come in whiz. ;)) Duh.
Pretty interesting my order at www.uniontelecard.com got denied because I am not US citizen.
Sorry I don%26#39;t know exact prices, but international calling cards are all over the place here! Considering that probably 2/3 of NYC residents have a loved one in another country, the int%26#39;l phone card business is very competitive.
You can get phone cards at newspaper stands, pharmacies/chemists like Duane Reade, Rite Aid and Walgreens, and even some souvenir stores.
You will have no problem finding phone cards, but you might need a small calculator to comparison shop.
When you arrive you can get a RebelFone USA Sim Card: http://www.rebelfone.com/ at %26#39;Airport Wireless Store%26#39; at Airport or online.
I bought one in the first mini-supermarket I came across. It was US$20.00. No idea if it was the %26#39;best%26#39; deal or not but I used it for about 10 calls of about 10 - 20 minutes to the UK. Dead easy to use from pay-phones or my hotel room.
